Kidepo National Park is not yet very touristic.
You will have lunch at the lodge and later go for a game drive through the Narus Valley where you will see herds of buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras and hopefully some lions, leopard and the elusive cheetah. The rooms at Apoka Lodge have been built with comfort in mind. Everything is handmade by local craftsmen, everything is large and capacious. 10 expansive rooms with natural canvas walls surround a rocky kopje with endless views across the savannah.
With inside sitting rooms and private verandas there are plenty of places to relax, read and write letters. Big hand-hewn beds with soft duvets are draped with mosquito nets, hand-woven woolen carpets, extra large plush towels, oversized dressing gowns…you may be as far away from the city as you’ll ever be, but you won’t miss a thing.
There is a swimming pool as well
Day 2: Game drive – Cultural tour
Today after a very heavy hearty breakfast, you will go for an exciting game drive across the savannah, hills, small forests, dry river beds and always the rings of mountains around you. You will see lots of animals. Have a game drive to Karankorog with lots of wildlife on the way.
Come back for lunch at the lodge. After lunch, you will go for cultural tour to the Karamajong people to learn about the proud tribe and how they have refused most influences of change.
Then have an experiential visit with them, see their homesteads called the Manyatas and also the kraal’s where their cattle are kept.
You will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight
