My 4 night gorilla trekking adventure in Uganda was nothing short of magical and it would not have been the same without the incredible support and professionalism of Gorilla Link Tours and its owner, Carol. From the very first moment I arrived at Entebbe Airport, I felt welcomed, cared for and excited for the journey ahead. Carol herself was waiting for me at the airport with a warm smile and a friendly greeting that immediately set the tone for the entire trip. Her kindness and professionalism were evident from the start. She personally escorted me to my accommodation, the ViaVia Entebbe, a charming and cozy guesthouse perfect for resting before the early start the next day. The attention to detail and personal touch from Carol made me feel like a valued guest rather than just another tourist. The next morning, I was picked up at 6 AM by my driver, Arshley, who was equally warm and friendly. We traveled in a spacious 9-seater safari vehicle, which was comfortable, even though there were only two of us inside. Arshley was attentive and courteous throughout the ~10–11 hour journey to Bwindi, always opening the car door for me and ensuring I was comfortable. Uganda’s lush green landscapes, rolling hills and vibrant rural life made the time fly by. We made a special stop at the Equator, where I had the surreal experience of standing with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere, a truly memorable photo opportunity. For lunch, we stopped at the Numba Café in Kabale. Carol had arranged my stay at the Mutanda Lake Resort and it was an absolute gem. Nestled by the serene shores of Lake Mutanda, the resort offered breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings and exceptional service. The rooms were clean, comfortable and beautifully designed with local touches. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was good. This location turned out to be the perfect base for visiting the Nkuringo gorilla family, as it’s close to the park headquarters and offers a tranquil environment to relax before and after the trek. The gorilla trekking day started early at 6 AM from the resort, but waking up before sunrise was absolutely worth it. My guide was knowledgeable, passionate and made sure we were well-prepared for the hike through the dense forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After 30 minutes of trekking through stunning but challenging terrain, we finally reached the Nkuringo gorilla family. Seeing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat was one of the most profound experiences of my life. I spent a full hour with them, observing their interactions, watching the young ones play, and marveling at the powerful silverback as he guarded his family. Being so close to the gorillas, just a few meters away was surreal. Their expressions, movements, and presence felt almost human. What truly set this trip apart was the personalized service from Carol and her team. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, from airport transfers to accommodation, meals and park logistics. Carol was always available to answer questions, offer advice and ensure everything ran smoothly. Her passion for Uganda and commitment to her guests’ happiness was evident in every interaction. Uganda is the most special place and Gorilla Link Tours made it.
Nothing but beautiful memories. Firstly don't book through a UK travel agent, go direct and talk to Caroline for your trip. We booked our flights with Uganda Airlines (faultless and best airline we have been with) Caroline asked us what we would like to do, what type of accommodation and that was it.... From the initial contact and all in between Caroline provided us with a holiday of a lifetime. Here's a few highlights, Remote camping next to the Nile, Day and night time game drives, providing unbelievable contact with all nature, Uganda has more to off than our trip a few years ago to Kruger. Scenery from Savannah, swamp, to the tropical rain forest. Birds and butterflies, boat tours, Gin and tonic while listening to the lions, 64 strong herds of elephants, white water rafting, food (Rolex!!! now making at home) This country like many has problems, but the warmth and smiles from Uganda will last us a lifetime. The views from the lodges we stayed, nothing short of spectacular. Lastly to our guide, a full review elsewhere. Your passion, kindness, warmth, humour impacted so greatly on this journey Ashley. I just want to say, wow. Caroline and the whole team at Gorilla Link are above and beyond amazing. When I was first planning this trip for my husband and I, a long standing dream of mine was to see mountain gorillas in the wild. I reached out to a few safari companies, but Caroline was the most helpful and responsive. She spent weeks answering my every question and making recommendations to help us plan the most amazing safari journey ever. Her lodging recommendations were spot on, and a few times she even managed to secure free upgrades for us. And a particular shout-out to Richard, our driver and guide, whose enthusiasm and knowledge and can-do attitude really made our trip. It's only thanks to him that I still managed to see mountain gorillas despite a bum ankle from having twisted it on a hike the previous day. When Richard unfortunately had to leave midway through due to an unexpected emergency, he seamlessly found us a replacement driver, Herbert, who took great care of us for the second half of the trip and shared his endless knowledge of wildlife, birds, and nature with us. The whole trip went smoothly and we had a fantastic time and made memories that will last a lifetime. A well organised 2 night trip from Kigali to Bwindi. Everything fitted together with a timely pick-up & drive to the very comfortable Ichumbi lodge. There we enjoyed great hospitality. We had an amazing close up gorilla experience with fun, caring guide/rangers. A special mention to our driver Ivan who drove safely but efficiently. Moreover he proved to be great company providing articulate, intelligent & informative conversation.
